Memories... Deadlift Wed 4th Mar 2020 Block 2 (Transition) Wk2 (Volume): 5x3Rp@5RM 220kg x 3Rp x 5sets This was a monumental volume session that was most satisfying. When it comes to satisfaction, nothing comes close to the barbell. This volume session was about a month ago at Newtown Anytime, the best Anytime I've come across thus far. As you can see, I was lifting on a dedicated platform with a dedicated deadlift bar, luxury. I miss this so much. It'll be interesting to see how strong I am once I can touch a barbell again in the not too distant future (let's hope). Happy April! First pic from when I first got the set since I didn’t take a pic today lmao. I worked out w my boyf today & it was one of the hardest lifts ever 😀. I’ve been inconsistent w lifting but I finally have a set routine of MWF so we are back at square one! My boyf is on his way towards becoming a starting strength coach (( @startingstrength )) and I know he’s gonna be the best coach ever one day! 🥳 He even taught me how to low bar squat and it was truly the most painful experience in lifting ever but I’m still gonna work on it. 😳⁣ •⁣ Lifts:⁣ Low bar squat: 3x5 95lbs - Low bar is definitely something new for me. My upper back is extremely tight so I need to work on stretching it out so I can properly hold the bar! Once I get comfortable with that back pressure and gripping the bar I should be good!! Per google this kind of squat focuses more on the posterior chain which I definitely felt today. ⁣ Deadlift: 1x5 155lbs - literally idk where he got these weights but this felt like 200lbs for sure. Focusing on my form, narrow stance, feet pointed a lil bit out, shin one inch from bar, slide up legs, pull from the #slack 😳. ⁣ Press: 3x5 55 lbs - literally the worst thing ever. Trying to focus on rebounding my hips while being the most uncoordinated person ever is the worst so don’t judge my form on this bc I’m working on it😤!! ⁣ •⁣ Being taught how to properly do these lifts made me actually feel what I was doing so I actually enjoyed the pain a lil??? This is my journey towards one day being a lil bit of a powerlifter who knows! Honestly, I’ve really enjoyed being back home and with my family and boyfriend. This was a much needed break from my fast paced life back in college. Rest of my workout from earlier. After I hit 315lbs for 1, I did an AMRAP with 275, goal was 6-10 reps and I managed 8 with an ego pause on the last. Set was longer than a minute because of my long MF eccentric. I’ve had a hip shift for a long time due to all of the injuries my right ankle has had. First major ankle sprain was grade 4 and they’ve accumulated since. • • For years I had almost no ability to move my ankle which looking back, definitely explains a lot. Now that I’m educated and able to rehab my current injury I’m noticing that I’m finally fixing a lifetime restriction. • • Snatch grip Deadlifts. 365lbs for a top set of 6 and BB Bent over rows for 8 at 225lbs. 🔥 DEADLIFTS 🔥 These are unquestionably the greatest exercise of all time, recruiting more muscle groups than any other movement, the ability to lift super heavy and room for tons of overload. The form of your deadlift is paramount, done incorrectly it can be the most detrimental to your fitness and health. Personally, I’ve never been fond of the mixed grip and always stuck with the overhand grip. When I began lifting heavier weight than my hands could hold on to, I purchases figure 8 straps. The straps take the load off of your fingers and allow you to lift as heavy as you can without grip strength being a problem.
